Mac users: Batch File Rename utlity: Brilliant

Post by mazz » Wed Jan 19, 2011 6:12 pm

I've been using this to replace text in whole folders of audio files, append file names, add things to the beginning, pretty much anything you can think of.

Screw manually adding the same 2 or 3 or 4 of the same code letters to dozens of library audio files (alt mixes, stingers, 30s, etc.), do it all in one batch!!!!!

Brilliant!!!

You're welcome.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Cool... 8-)
I used to do this stuff with DOS batch files under Windows. Even better was running unix commands on a PC-- they have packages for that (at least they used to!)... Unix command-line prompt commands are very wildcard powerful. You can do great things.... or shoot off not just your foot, but your whole leg!

I date myself, I'm sure! :o

Of course, regardless of what tool you use, ALWAYS back up the whole folder somewhere first. Mistakes can be deadly.

Too geeky for me, Casey, that's why I use a mac!!

But no matter what computer you use, your advice to do these types of things on a copy is well taken!!!

Been using ABFR for a long time now - it's great - And it is deep. You can set up multiple steps to do amazing things,
