I met a VP of Sound Exchange at SXSW in March and one of the things he told me was this:

"The biggest reason people don't get paid is a lack of correct metadata." In other words, the track information is either incorrect or inconsistent with the information you provide them. So, perhaps those tracks had names misspelled, incorrect or missing altogether.
Great info, thanks Debra. :)

just signed up - if you have a lot of songs out there like me prepare to spend a bit of time on this - also..I opened a separate bank account (with not too much $ in it) to give them info for - im linking my paypal,ASCAP and some other music things to this account only - once it gets too much $ in it I simply transfer to my other account - call me paranoid but it seems every time I turn on the news another company is getting hacked - if something funky ever happens to your bank account it can take 2-6 months to have it investigated - can you go that long without your scratch ? - I know I can't...bum

Yes, they need the info to report payments to the IRS. I was notified through ASCAP that they had funds waiting for us. Matto on another thread let me know this is for performance royalties, not writer/publisher so they are paying from another corner of the field.

I received an email stating that they (sound ex) had money for me. I went to the site and sure enough, songs I had written with a previous band showed up. They only ask for a copy of a driver's license for proof of identity (expected) and and a W-9 which is also pretty normal. And a voided check for direct deposit was optional. Nothing seems out of the ordinary & I was impressed that someone would take the steps to contact me.

I'll let you guys know how many millions I receive, (probably more like $5!)
