Whatever It Was…It Was Big ©2012 Robert George BMI
Well, I’m a country lady…born n bred
n when my guy n I were newlyweds
We made plans to go out campin’ in the hills
But we got asked somethin’ by my mom
Could we take my kid brother along
So we could teach him some survival skills
That night I held a flashlight to my chin
Said my man n I had better take first watch
Told my brother somethin’ had been seen up there
And it left footprints worse than Sasquatch
Yeah, it comes out after dark
It’s a legend in these parts
The kind of hellish creature
Described by Sunday preachers
Some folks scream because
Whatever it was
It was big
Well, my brother said he wasn’t scared
Got his sleeping bag and said his prayers
Me n my new hubby snuck off in the trees
And the full moon in the mountain skies
Was reflected in a hoot owl’s eyes
As we lay down in a cozy bed of leaves
Well, that boy came crawlin’ from his tent
When he heard us walkin’ back
When he asked about our rumpled clothes
I said we were both attacked
Yeah, it comes out after dark
It’s a legend in these parts
The kind of hellish creature
Described by Sunday preachers
Some folks scream because
Whatever it was
It was big
We went back alone next Saturday
On another mountain getaway
And just when we both were sleepin’
Somethin’ crazy came-a-creepin’
Yeah, it comes out after dark
It’s a legend in these parts
The kind of simful creature
Described by Sunday preachers
Almost screamed because
Whatever it was
It was big
