Post My Favorite Listing
 ...URGENTLY needs '70s ROCK SONGS (or Instrumentals) that were actually RECORDED in the '70s...

I gotta say, I will certainly change the channel right away if I notice that a 70's tune on a TV show or commercial I am watching was not really recorded in the 70's...

Sorry for the sarcasm Taxi. I know you are not responsible for them terms of the requests. I do genuinely hope that one of our TAXI members nail the gig though...

ROCK ON!

Trevor

Yea, so you better be over 50 or don't even consider submitting to this one. You were tooooo young to record it.

I actually know the owner of the company that ran that listing, and what they're doing is smart. Lots of libraries have music that is in the style of certain genres, but when you hear it side by side with music that was authentically recorded in the period, there's a discernible difference almost any listener could hear. This company has been very successful licensing period music to shows like Mad Men lately, so they're moving quickly to become the definitive period music catalog. They actually check the copyright dates on everything they sign!

I've listened to the real deal VS the "fake" stuff in an A/B comparison, and I could easily tell which was which. Apparently their clients can too, and I think they're smart for going all out for that niche. PLUS, I like it because it gives our members who DO have a bunch of old stuff sitting around a chance to make some money with it. Nothing wrong with that! :D

More like 70 or over, lol, I am 50, and was still a teenager. Well, maybe 64, I just looked up Elton John's age. And Ian Anderson, same age.
Well, I suppose if your Dad or Mom willed it to you, :o

Well I am 64. Just had a birthday. Started to rewrite lyrics for the Beatles song but this is as far as I got.

Now that I'm older, streaks in my hair
How the years have flown
We danced around the high school gym at seventeen
Now you've got me hunting your teeth

Married to Santa, need I say more
never want for more
Now don't be so grumpy cause I'm a bit frumpy
Now I"m Sixty Four!

Yes I'm older too
And if you say a word
I won't speak to you

I thought you'd be rich n I would be cool
Thought we'd never age
Silver hair and and belly that can shake with joy
You are still my good looking boy

Married to Santa, need I say more
never want for more
Now don't be so grumpy cause I'm a bit frumpy
Now I"m Sixty Four!

Yes, when you put it that way, this makes sense.

Another thing to remember...this is show business people. Whether or not a client can tell the difference between a real 70s recording or a fake 70s recording may ultimately be irrelevant. Many producers/directors are rather obsessed about their projects, and because of this, to them it may matter *on principle* that a song is 'genuine' 70s.
So having genuine period recordings gives this company a huge marketing advantage which in today's competitive market place can make a big difference.
