Well, last week I fin’lly found some steady work
Filin’ in the sheriff’s office as a clerk
Now, the sheriff’s in a good mood ev’ry day
Takin’ endless lunches down at Tom’s café
I eat right at my desk
Surf the web awhile
One day I tried Google Earth
And I just sat there n smiled

Though it’s ten miles up n lookin’ down
It can spot a deer tick on a hound
I could see a half a dozen tires
Holdin’ down my daddy’s country roof
Mom was at the chapel with the choir
Dad was on the back porch with his hunnerd proof
Yeah, we got a quiet corner of the universe
But we sure can’t hide it from the sight of Google Earth

Gramma won a prize fer makin’ deer meat soup
Why’s she got an axe and cook pot by the chicken coop
And the picture’s blurry of my uncle’s emu farm
Like the lense could smell the one he buried by the barn
Yeah, the spy in the sky
Watches us below
It’s like ev’ry single shot
Is a reality show

Though it’s ten miles up n lookin’ down
It can spot a spider on the ground
Looka there…I see ole Mister Tanner
Hossin’ hay bales by his rabbit hutches
Guess he’s just a sharp insurance scammer
He don’t need that neck brace or those crutches
Yeah, we got a quiet corner of the universe
But we sure can’t hide it from the sight of Google Earth

What’s that stuff-a-growin’
By the sheriff’s place
Guess that’s why, he’s a hungry guy
With a smile upon his face

Though it’s ten miles up n lookin’ down

Though my daddy got home late last Friday
Soakin’ wet and claimin’ he’d been baptized
I saw beer cans bobbin’ there beside him
When his trout boat hit a rock n capsized
Yeah, we got a quiet corner of the universe
