Post patience and confidence are virtues...
So I got a deal through TAXI with a library that places material on Discovery channel. That was over 2 years ago. It took about nine months to hear back from them after sending my first CD. I sent a 2nd disc in, and still haven't heard back from that submission. So I start in with the negative thinking. 'They don't like my stuff so they're not getting back to me. My stuff isn't up to their standards, blabbity, blabbity, blah....' I was really at the point where I pretty much was writing this publisher off, shame on me....

Couple days ago a cue sheet for Discovery Networks shows up on my BMI account it was through this publisher.

The takeaways for me are:
* Patience, this business moves slow.
* Confidence: Anyone that gets forwarded by TAXI can safely assume their material passes muster in this business. Don't confuse lack of feedback or placements as lack of interest.

Thanks for the post Erich.
I've been going through a bit of that the last few weeks.
Congrats on your deal and here's to many more :)

Congrats Erich!! Everything you say is true, which is why the phrase "write, submit, forget, repeat" is so applicable. It's good to keep track of things, but at some point one has to get back to the business of creating, which is really one of the few things in our control in this wacky world.

Very cool!!

Mazz

BTW: Is BMI starting to put the cue sheets online? I hope so! That has been one of the great things that has come about on the ASCAP site in the past couple of years. Having the cue sheets is awesome and fun!

Ya Mazz,
BMI puts cue sheets up in the 'works catalog' section of BMI's online interface. It doesn't match 1:1 with the royalty statements, there's way less cue sheets than items on the statements. But it is fun to see them drop.

Good reminder, write/submit/forget.
