Post Question on Christmas Listing- We've been here before, but..
NEW LISTING -- ROCK/POP COVERS of PUBLIC DOMAIN CHRISTMAS SONGS a "Jingle Bells", "Silent Night", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," etc., needed by an established and successful Music Library for placement in advertising and Film/Television. They want to hear instrumentals of PUBLIC DOMAIN SONGS ONLY. Make sure your cover is PD (some examples of songs that are NOT PD: "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Frosty the Snowman," "Little Drummer Boy," etc.) Remember, your music will be used to add energy, atmosphere, or emotion to a scene, so keep your arrangements and vocals focused and compelling. This is a semi-exclusive deal whereby you can still sell your music on iTunes and outlets such as CD Baby, etc., but the Music Library has the exclusive right to pitch your instrumentals to film and TV. They offer $125 upfront compensation plus 40% of the licensing fee. You retain 100% of the writers share. Broadcast quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine.) Please submit one to three instrumentals. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Monday, February 27, 2012.

Hey, folks,

Once again, a listing asks for instrumentals while also mentioning compelling vocals.
(Some listings are clear about wanting songs and/or instrumentals. This isn't one of those.)
I'm sure that with all the listings that are written, there is a fair amount of cut and paste going on. There are bound to be mistakes.
Within this particular listing, the "instrumental" mentions outnumber the "vocal" mentions.
Since I don't do instrumentals, this gives me pause.

What do y'all think?

Thanks!!

I'm wondering about this too Stephen,

Eliza and I are already working on a Christmas Album (one of our New Years resolutions), then this listing comes up!

So I'm trying to figure out whether to send instrumental versions or vocal versions.

BTW, for anyone interested I found a list of Public Domain Christmas songs here:

This is the same listing as earlier this month. They changed numbers to correct it. I got an update on my submission with the new number. The listing was for both instrumentals and vocals.
