Post Re: Taxi 2.0 & Collaboration?
All sounds like a great idea ! The people ive encountered via taxi so far have been great and generally up for the good of all. Trouble is as soon there is a potential for money/splits to be involved it can all go pear shaped pretty quickly.

How would you deal with the potential splits problem. Could you do some kind of escrow type affair where both parties have to virtually sign an agreement of some kind. There are a lot of freelance type sites that do well with that setup. Although that would suit a work for hire arrangment better than a 'well i reckon i wrote 50% of that'

Great idea. Tough to implement.Good luck studio :)

Any time scale on 2.0 yet ?

Sure glad p2p is not members only. The two years I was a member, I felt the other way:) I try to help more people than those that help me.

Hard now to even keep track of all the new faces/songs.

I would love to work with others. Contribute as much as I can.

My wife is real sick and she just mentioned that I should join again. (bucket list)

Maybe i need a target to shoot at. (listings)

I just love it here and feel privileged to have so many friends.

sincerely

Paul

Post Re: Taxi 2.0 & Collaboration?
In my one year's experience as a member, and some six months beforehand haunting the P2P forum, I have worked on a few collabs with other writers, one of which was purely as a vocalist rather than a co-writer. In that instance I was offered a 10% stake in whatever income the song may make down the line, and I was sent a simple contract which we co-signed. I have offered the same deal to others. Seems to me, we know each other's capabilities just by frequenting the forum, and can pick and choose whom we work with. I always let people know that if my vocal (or whatever contribution I make) isn't what the main writer wanted, as long as they don't use it I'm fine with that – I learnt something from the process anyway, which has strengthened my arsenal.

So yes, I'm all for more collaboration, but I don't see why the doors aren't already open. It's mostly about we writers learning to let go and trust that someone else's input can only inform our thinking. Security from the outside world is the only pre-requisite, imo.

Looking forward to working with more people in the coming year.

Nick

Although the rally makes it much better, many people collab after meeting here on the forum and never meeting in person at all. Again, I think it's much more about relationship building and being a pro in how you condut yourself than anyone providing tools.

I've worked with folks from the forum as co-writers and/or work-for-hire producers. In some cases, that relationship began BEFORE I met the other person at the rally. So not being able to attend a rally, shouldn't be a reason not to form relationships here for collab.

Discussing ground rules and the nature of your working together up-front is very helpful. For example, it's important to clarify if the project is a co-write, work-for-hire production, or combination? How will ownership of the masters and composition be handled?

Paul, not sure if replying to me about the "member only" peer to peer vote.

Meaning 'forum members' here - as in not public, like a logged in only view ( ?)

Not that I am getting any songs out lately! Life bills crept up for a min here.

Hope all is ok at home

I am new to this forum, but am getting acclimated, and I read your post and think that this collaborative arena for taxi 2.0 would be fantastic! If possible, i would like to be part of it.
