Trailer pitch - what do you think? near or far?
hi,
my weekends work for the Orchestral Rock Trailer pitch
Aphotic WIP
on my taxi page linked below.
Love to have your opinions. My ears are dead and useless and this point but hopefully tomorrow I will have some time to tweak this.
thanks!

Re: Trailer pitch - what do you think? near or far?
Nice intro. Percussion and guitars are great. I like the composition as a whole.
The overall EQ feel completely changes from nice and dense in the intro to very bright, almost too crispy at 0:30.
Brass lines are occasionally very thin, especially the trumpets. Try doubling the brass with complementary instruments so those lines thicken up and carry more strongly. There are a few places where the brass is sitting uncomfortably (I'd say apologetically) in the mix, examples: 1:45-1:47, 2:19-2:34. Maybe compress the brass heavily in those spots so it's smoother and consistent.
Good luck!

What Rob said. Other than that, plenty of bombast, there. The industrial-strength distortion in the right channel at the end had me a little worried for the health of my speaker, hehe

Re: Trailer pitch - what do you think? near or far?
Hey Andy...It would be nice to bring this one home to New Mexico eh? Anyways here's some notes I scribbled down while listening. To be taken with x grains of salt of course. 0:15 and other places. Brass sounds "too nice". Not big enough. Maybe adding some deeper tbone or gnarly french horns would help. 0:32 Too nice 0:45 Very cool!!! Love the deep bassy stuff going on here. Cool!! 1:00 The brass again. Dunno, kinda throws me out of the mood somehow 1:25 Again nice deep stuff...Extreme coolness!!! 1:45 Brass again. 2:00 Nice nice!!! Love this
Overall good composition. I like the heavy rock motifs juxtaposed with the more classical elements.
Hope this is somewhat useful and of course is just me.... Good luck to you my friend.
Derek.

Re: Trailer pitch - what do you think? near or far?
Hi Andy, I know this is pretty late - just going through the forum now... My personal opinion is that the track isn't very Trailer like at all. There would need to be more dynamics (aggressively) and the guitars would need to sound more like a wall of sound: Like this for instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CsmFLGPkRUI think the track in itself has a lot of potential, but I feel that the brass are steering it away from the ROCK edge. You will def find a home for this. Good luck, B

Hey B,

Re: Trailer pitch - what do you think? near or far?
Hey Andy.. A big improvement here. Brass sounds a lot better etc. While I can see what Brad (*B*) is saying in an earlier post I think this is trailer material. It is not the "Two Steps to Hell" or Troels Folmahn type of track and maybe this is what is expected here but I see a kind of detective/mystery/adventure sort of thing going on. Like the trailer to Tin Tin for example. I would sub it for sure, it is a very good track and will find a home and I think it could find that home as a trailer piece. Of course just personal opinion. Good luck.
Derek.
