Post Small-Diaphragm Condenser mic Advice?
Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice of a good mid price small-diaphragm mic. Mainly to record guitars but wil be used on other acoustic instruments I'm sure :)
Thank you!

I like the audio technica 4041. Seems like last yr Sweetwater had matched pair for $400 bucks or something. Good sounding mic. Reasonably priced.

It was 500.00 buck for pair, not 4.
399.00 for one at Sweetwater. I added a link.

Pedro,
They use these little Shures on the Grand Ol Opry to mic Ac Gtr , Manolin, Banjo and the like. I'm sure it's a good little mic. Also the SM81 by Shure has been used to record Ac GTr for decades. A few Ideas. Not sure what your budget is. There;s always the KM184. Or the all time fav the vintage KM84 but they are pricey. One of those would be an investment you would never regret. You can ALWAYS resale them. Industry standard for Ac instruments for yrs and yrs. Nuemann KM84.

Wow!
Thank you Bruce.
I was really hoping to not spend that much.
I wish there was a place i could get loaners to actually be able to record and hear the difference to then gauge if it would be worth spending the extra $

I know there are a lot of cheaper mics out there. I have not heard them personally, but I'll bet lots of folks will reply and give you good input. Ebay is another option, get a good one cheap.
Good luck.
Bruce

Thanks Bruce.
I was thinking in the $200 range but looks like I may have to spend more to get something decent.

Maybe not. What have you been using? What mics do you have now? Do you have 48volt phantom power on your DAW?
Was looking at gtr center and they have some for under 200. Saw an AKG I know that's a good brand For 170 I think. I'll poke around.

Right now I use an old inexpensive large diaphragm condenser for everything including vocals.
