Re: Why has everyone abandoned myspace?
Yup. Myspace is fantastic if you want a virus, take ten days to log in, and want to be bombarded with advertisements. It's also not really music friendly and very anti-integration (or at least was, and has relented some of it's stance since then) with other websites.
I personally prefer Reverbnation. I can email, intergrate myspace, facebook, youtube, twitter, etc in a fantastic platform that is about my music and where I'm performing rather than having to hunt all over the page(s) to see what I'm up to. It's pretty straightforward and makes a great EPK.
Sound cloud or whatever it is, is a great place to put tracks up, but if you are a performer, like myself, then it's pretty limiting.
Be prepared for the mass exodus from Facebook once timeline is forced upon it's inhabitants.
