Post Too "hair metal" for macho listing?
Hi all,

Wondering about my track "Lessons Learned" (found here: http://www.taxi.com/rogergilpin) for the below listing:

Quote:
Dear Passengers,

Below is a special opportunity that we wanted to give you a heads up about. Just got the word about this project today, and need the music by 10 AM (PST) Thursday February 9th, 2012. You can find this listing under the Instrumental (Film & TV) genre in the Submit Music section of your TAXImusic.com hosting site.

Elite Music Placement/Licensing Company needs a DRIVING, COCKY, COOL and MACHO INSTRUMENTAL for a Hollywood Feature Film a la the Theme Music from Kill Bill - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfMCFZmzF2k

Quoting the company here, "Imagine you're a boxer walking through the crowd on your way to the ring. What kind of music would give you the confidence and swagger before you're about to fight? We're looking for a TRACK that sounds bulletproof -- a TRACK that wraps the listener in a layer of bad-assery. The vibe of this Whole Lotta Love/War Pigs mash-up also works (except WE need an INSTRUMENTAL): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThU9BOWcmjM

But no Metal please!! And if it's Hard Rock, it needs to sound cool and modern or remixed/beatsy, and not like an 80s hair band. Black Keys/White Stripes-type sounds are ok. Even Link Wray-esque rumble sounds work for this because they exude coolness. Remember: the key here is an instrumental that sounds badass, cool and totally impenetrable." Gotta love companies that give lots of direction!!! As always, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form! It's IMPORTANT that your submissions sound AUTHENTICALLY like a cool, hip ARTIST/BAND and NOT like a production music library track. INSTRUMENTALS only please. Give your SONG a title that makes them think you're a cool Indie artist. DO NOT title it like you would for a music library pitch. BUTTON ENDINGS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR THIS, but not absolutely necessary. Your song will have a better chance with the editor if the end is buttoned. The ESTIMATED PAYMENT for this placement is $15,000-30,000. YOU WILL KEEP 70% of the ultimate fee, and you will NOT give up ANY of your master, publishing and writer's share! You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights to submit for this listing. Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine.) NO SAMPLES of other songs or artists can be incorporated into your track. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS by a person Hand-Picked by the listing company. ALL submissions must be received no later than 10 AM (PST) Thursday, February 9th, 2012.

Does it fit? Or is this too "retro"?

Thanks as always. - Roger

Hey Roger,

I think it has a decent swagger to it my only beef is, where's the Bass?
A good groove on a bass would do wonders for this track IMO.

Hi Pedro,

Yeah Rich, (playagibson) said something similar on a different track/post of mine. I guess I need to be working a little more on the bass in my tracks. Thanks again. - Roger

Hey Roger

I know that we're past the submission deadline on this but I'll give you my 2 cents anywho.

I think its kinda off target for this listing. Especially since they specifically say no metal and no 80's hair bad music. I wouldn't call this 80's metal necessarily but it feels more metal to me than The White Stripes or the Cue from Kill Bill

So did you submit it or not?

-Robbie
