Hi susanaincolors,

I think you have a great voice with a lot of potential.
I liked the song "When" and think it's got a good groove
going on. Lot's of good ideas in it.

As far as producing, I think you would need to find someone
near you who could help develop your songs and help you
get your vocal tracks down. I find that you sing softly into
the mic and don't seem to let it all out. It sounds like your
voice has a good range, just need to maybe get that range
working for you.

The thing about Taxi is they work by listings so you kind of
have to write for the listing. That doesn't mean you can't
pitch them your own stuff but they really are looking for
what the lisitng is asking for. You are a good song writer
and have some good ideas so I wouldn't worry about the writing
part. Just keep plugging away and let Taxi help you become a
really great song writer by submitting to listings.

Hope this helps and good luck :)

Welcome Susana. You've defiantly got potential!!

Collaborating with someone is probably a great idea but I will say this one thing: Learning how to produce, re-mix & record your own music is a very empowering thing for a singer songwriter (even/especially when you are signed to a label). Therefore, if I were you, I would continue to do both your own productions as well as collaborations.

I kinda like the intimate vibe of that style.

I can imagine you getting forwards here for sure...with the right production. Best of luck. :)

Hi

I listened to all of your songs and I agree your voice is good.

I wish I was talented enough to help you because it would be fun and I have tons of time, but my mixing/mastering is poor.

I just wanted to chirp in and say that you do have great potential.

The best of luck to you

Paul

Hey Susana,

First - Kudos for reaching out for collaborators! That is awesome and really the right way to go. You might want to check into Craig's List or Meetup.com or music organizations in your town to find some local collaborators.

The rest of this comment is just my opinion - but why would you want to get signed if you're just starting out? I think it's a huge mistake in today's music industry to focus on getting signed. Focus on building your platform. Focus on playing out, building your fanbase (online and offline), creating your products at a high level of quality. If you build that platform, the support will show up in the form of agents/managers and record labels. If they're not showing up, it's likely because you're not really ready for them.

And I've seen a lot of artists careers destroyed because they got signed before they were really ready and then dropped by the label because it didn't make a big enough fast enough profit. And in the meantime, they still own your content.

Embrace the DIY so that when the opportunities come and you're ready for them, you can take massive advantage.

Awesome - yeah, I was just responding to the one statement about finding label that wants to sign you.

Good luck and let me know if you have questions or need support.

Your coach,
Debra

Good voice. I especially like the feel in The Crown and When. It is a good contemporary sound. I agree that it would be good if you opened up. You need to project absolute confidence. You don't have to actually have absolute confidence. You can begin by faking it. In time you will actually find that real confidence has taken over. I also agree that you will give up a lot if you rush into a recording deal. Get a feel for what is happening. You are right that your production values need improving -- greatly. Finding someone long-distance could work, but there are a lot of pitfalls and legal liabilities. It is likely not enough to simply say you want help and if you succeed you will remember to be generous. This is business, and you need to have that view of things. Songs are solid. Voice is on track and needs to open up a bit. Feel is good. Sesne of song style is good. There is a lot of potential there. It is likely that you will gain an advantage by finding a good producer/collaborator. You can learn more later. If you try to perfect all your learning before you expect to accomplish anything you may not get too far for a while. As for the people around you who don't believe in what you are doing, if they haven't accomplished what you hope to do then they have nothing to base their opinions on. Better to stay focused and remember that once you have arrived doing what you want to do, they won't be around anymore to try and discourage you. If you really want to be discouraged, then by all means, listen to them!

You are off to a good start. You have the right idea. Stay involved. Stay busy. Learn. Keep going. You are your best advocate.

One thought: Producing your song(s) will take a lot of someone else's valuable time and expert skills. Those have a value. It is unlikely that someone who is very good will want to do the work for charity -- at least not for very long -- especially for a stranger, because they also have their own interests to tend to. There are countless thousands of people trying to make it as independent musicians. The competition is deadly. You are moving in the right direction making your own good songs and seeking to improve the quality.

I hope this helps.

Steve
