Hey Pros!!
Thinking about submitting my "Bad Case of Loving You" cover to this listing:
MID-to-UPTEMPO COVER VERSIONS of RECOGNIZABLE HITS from 1979 are quickly needed by a TOP-SHELF MUSIC SUPERVISOR for a POPULAR TV SERIES. Songs of that era include: "My Sharona" by The Knack; "Bad Girls" by Donna Summer; "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" by Rod Stewart; "Heart of Glass" by Blondie, etc. You can find a list of more hits from 1979 here: http://bit.ly/Y8aGKc The Music Supervisor wants to hear RETRO or VINTAGE-SOUNDING recordings, as well as more CURRENT and MODERN POP/ROCK-BASED interpretations of these classic songs. INDIE POP and INDIE ROCK-style covers are also welcome! Be sure YOUR COVER is accessible (not too far fetched, or whacky), commercially appealing, and FUN. Think outside the box, but don't make it kooky for its own sake. Also, please try to keep the essential elements of the melody and lyrics intact so the SONG is still recognizable. It's IMPORTANT that your SONG sounds like an ARTIST/BAND, and NOT like a production music library track. MALE and/or FEMALE VOCALS are BOTH OK. Forwards from TAXI will be sent DIRECTLY to the MUSIC SUPERVISOR, so YOU WILL KEEP 100% of the ultimate Master License fee! You must own or control 100% of the Master rights to submit for this listing. No samples of any other artists’ recordings can be used in your production. Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three songs online. Instrumentals are not needed at this time. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS by a TAXI screener Hand-Picked by the MUSIC SUPERVISOR. ALL submissions must be received no later than Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 9:30AM PST. TAXI #U130219PO
The more I read the post, the more I second guess myself. It's not officially finished, but the jist is there. If you were me, would you roll the dice?? Is country rock a possible consideration?
Thanks ALWAYS for ALL your feedback
Peter

Heya Peter.
Well, it's certainly on the list. Country rock would be on the borderline I think, but then Kenny Rogers, CDB and LRB are on the list too...
Don't let indecision keep you from doing something. Jump in with both feet!

Peter, I see all kinds of pop/rock in capital letters, vintage, retro, current, modern, indie. Imo, from what I read, you are playing Russian roulette with a bullet in every chamber if you submit a country rock. The "Rolling the dice" metaphor might be better described as getting out of your comfort zone to give them what they want, pop/rock.

Russell, I DEFINITELY like your optimism and I DO consider myself the "gambling" type, but Len's making a LOT of sense too.
Len, you're so right. I don't see any country reference in there either. However, I DO see mid/up tempo (check), fun (hopefully a check), and outside the box (check??) Maybe it's worth a consideration?
I feel like a contestant on American Idol begging for a chance! haha (HATE that show this season!! )
$5 is worth it. I've done worse with more ...
Thanks for listening!!!
