Eagles-inspired instrumental for this listing ...

Post by PeterD » Fri Mar 08, 2013 3:44 pm

Hey everyone!!

Do I have a shot with Agave Road?
What's it need? What should be removed?
Taxi hasn't been kind to me lately ...

Thanks for your pro ears and input!!!!

CLASSIC ROCK SONGS **and/or** INSTRUMENTALS in the style of Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Allman Brothers, etc. are needed by the OWNER of an INDEPENDENT MUSIC LIBRARY. QUOTING THE SOURCE: "I'm looking for Songs or Instrumentals with a softer, more toned down sound. Acoustic guitars, softer electric guitars and pianos are all good," so be sure that your instrumentation is NATURAL and ORGANIC. If you submit a Song, be sure your lyrics are free of profanity, universal and general. Avoid specific names, places, brands, dates/time, or detailed storylines that might conflict with a scene. Broadcast quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). ORIGINAL SONGS **and/or** INSTRUMENTALS ONLY, NO COVERS. As always, do not copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for overall tempo, texture, and vibe. MALE and/or FEMALE vocals are BOTH OK. ALL TEMPOS are welcome. Please submit one to three SONGS **and/or** INSTRUMENTALS online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO basis with no full critiques from TAXI and must be received no later than Wednesday, March 13, 2013. TAXI #Y130313IN

Hey Peter! I certainly don't have pro ears (workin' on it!) but for what it's worth...I definitely think you've captured the referenced artists sound with the chord progression and melody, but for me, perhaps the production is little too bright. Sorry I can't be more specific :( Blame it on my old untrained ears ;)

Thank you Lesley!! :D

By "bright" do you mean, too much Hi EQ? Or, ... Activity? Cheery mood?

I do agree, I should "warm" things a little (give an older, vinyl quality)

;)

To me it's kinda straddling the soft rock/smooth jazz line. I think it's worth a fiver to find out what the screeners think, it's close. Maybe a bit more variation in the drum pattern, some rolls? A bit of more distorted guitar here and there might push it more toward rock as well.

Good luck!

You're welcome Peter and yep I'd maybe roll off some of the high end on the acoustic guitar to make it a smidge warmer n darker :)

Thanks for listening Ethan!!

I definitely know what you're saying! My inner rocker wants to get "rough" on it with heavier guitars and drums, but my gut (and the listing) is asking me to keep it easy-going. Lying Eyes & Peaceful Easy Feeling have pretty boring, unchanging drums (I think). ;)
