Beat the Rain -- Country/Alt Country - ver 3

Post by mikeShort » Thu Feb 21, 2013 2:42 pm

I've listened to you guys and this is what I have now. Am I getting there? You'll notice it's version 3. Version 2 was "not done" (see my signature line), so I didn't share it.

For those of you joining midstream, the music in the first four lines of the verses is straight quarter notes; it gets more rhythmic once you get to the "Is it something" lines, followed by straight quarters on the last line. The choruses and bridge are more varied. Hopefully you can get that from reading the lyrics.

Here it is:

Beat the Rain
by Michael B. Short © 2013

I can feel the weather changing
Riding on the wind
Grab the children run for cover
Devil's loose again
Is it something I should or I shouldn't
Something that you need

Chorus
All hell is glowing once again
I see the clouds a-buildin'
See the lightnin' flashin'
I will be going once again
Gotta beat the rain (2x)

I remember fields of flowers
Backlit by the sun
All those dreams and all that promise
Quickly came undone
Was it something I did or I didn't
Something that I said

Chorus (1x)

Bridge
So much to admire
But one misstep and feel the fire
I walk in your sunshine
But I won't stand in the middle of your storm

Break

So much pleasure so much wonder
Might drive me insane
Too much lightnin' too much thunder
To go through that again
Is it something I was or I wasn't
Something I can't be

Chorus (3x)
Mike

"It's not bad. It's just not DONE."
