Riding on my Harley through a southern California town
When a gal came runnin’ from a chapel in a wedding gown
Some guy in a cheap suit shook his fist outside the chapel gate
And he cursed and yelled that that’s the worst mistake she’d ever make

None o’ that fool’s angry threats
Were about to stop her
I rode up and offered a ride, to a runaway bride
On back of my chopper

We pulled off at sundown and I took out my old whiskey flask
Sat out in the desert on a rock and talked about the past
Let her wear my leather jacket as she slept there in the sand
Then at dawn we left for Bakersfield where she stayed with her aunt

And I told her mem’ry lane
Was a highway robber
She sure was an innocent sight, that sweet runaway bride
On back of my chopper

Well, I dropped her by an Airstream on a dusty county road
Then she kissed me on the forehead and I let her keep my coat
And I useta call her often from my custom Harley shop
And she told me she was lucky that she found a fast food job

It was hard to picture her
Hustlin’ fries and Whoppers
So I useta show up at night, and take that runway bride
On back of my chopper

O the moon was redder than a rose
On the summer evening I proposed
Out there in the desert kneelin’ on the sandy ground
And the next day we were quite a sight
Lovely blushin’ woman all in white
And a biker in a black tux ridin’ straight through town

Well, the tux hid my tattoos
She looked prim n proper
I thanked God I once gave a ride, to a runaway bride
On back of my chopper
Yeah, I’m an easy ridin’ man
Just like Dennis Hopper
Heaven blessed my highway one night, with a runaway bride
On back of my chopper…
