the third demo sounds amazing - does that sound like a mock up?

Looks like it's about $1085 for the package, with the early adopter discount for three volumes. (converting pounds to dollars).

They have added another demo its the 4th one I was amazed by - bredon dusk.

The Youtube walkthrough video I heard sounded great, too. They describe on their site recording with: "7 mic positions, recorded at 96k through vintage valve and ribbon mics to tape through Neve premaps and Prism convertors, and presented at 48k, 24bit in Kontakt format, and additionally three extremely useful ‘mixed’ versions presented in Stereo and 5.1 Surround"

- I'm wondering how that compares to how HS or LASS was recorded - I haven't researched the recording specs for those. Does anyone here know?

I love Spitfire Audio - there products are fantastic. And Sable is on my to buy list.

Don't have it but I will be getting Iceni and HZ Percussion.

That demo sounds very nice to be sure, but to my ears the demos for 8Dio's Adagio Cellos sound more real and impressive, especially "Giulia" and "Abandon".

"Brendon Dusk" relies on special articulations (trills) a lot and those have a tendency to sound really dazzling, but when I listen to the actual bread and butter legato lines in the demo, I don't find them as convincing or expressive as the best 8Dio demos (which btw use Cellos and Violins only since the rest of the section hasn't been released yet). The really high violin lines also don't sound as real to me as LASS...

So I would say no to "best ever" but it is definitely a worthy contender and another great option.

I do not know the exact recording specs for other libraries but I know they all use high quality gear...I've found that there are a lot of factors that contribute far more to the realism of a string mock-up than recording chain one-upmanship...(no offense to Spitfire who obviously make impressive products).
