Hey all, I've been posting a lot about my learning process working with my first library. I had a question for those of you who have more experience in this sphere. I kind of landed on a form that I felt like works pretty well for the purpose of these tracks, but I'm wondering if this is too repetitious.
For the dubstep I'm working on, after listening to the reference tracks and some others, the usual song form is pretty long (lots of 16-32 bar sections at ~140bpm). What fits into the time allotted without being too repetitive in the context of a single cue is basically the following:
8 bar Intro/build
16 bars section A
8 bar build
16 bars section A (with some new flair)
4ish bar sting ending
I pretty much did them all in this form, mostly because it seemed to work well. I'm worried that it's too cookie cutter, but I keep thinking back to all the stuff I've read on Taxi and it seems like less is often more. The tempos, keys, and sounds all vary quite a lot. Am I on the right track, at least for a starting point? (Understanding I could always get notes that it's too repetitive from the library itself.)

Replying to my own post because I apparently didn't get the right search terms the first time. This question of structure for an instrumental cue has been asked a number of times, e.g. here: http://forums.taxi.com/topic130134-10.html
I think what I have is probably fine, and they seemed to like the example I sent. So I think I'm on track. Happy to receive other feedback of course.

In my limited experience, they like it when you stick to the formula. If they want you to broaden your scope, they'll probably ask. People in the industry are really busy, but if your contact seems approachable, you might ask for notes on how your music can serve them better. Better yet, browse their catalog if you can, and see how your stuff compares to their stuff in similar genres.
