70's Rock Power Ballad
Here's one I recorded for a friend who is a rock singer in Scotland. He wanted a rock power ballad for his lyrics, which he says are based on a true story. I guess it gets kinda rowdy up Scotland way... It was fun to write something in a 70's brit rock style. All crits and comments welcome.http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... 381521Just Another DayLyrics: Big Jim MerrileesMusic: Mark KaufmanThe band took up their places and we began to play.It was just another audience, just another day.We played on “Autopilot” for most of the first set. Then we upped the tempo, a thing we would regret.ChorusIt was just another audience, just another day.Just another dollar, trying to make some pay.Do it all tomorrow.Do it everyday.Just another dollar, just another day.“Rock and Roll” played loudly gets dancers on the floor. We didn’t notice gangs just inside the door. Then came a dreaded signal on that cold and fateful night. It meant c’mon everybody, everybody fight.ChorusWe just kept on playing like we had done all night. We even played much louder to drown out the fight. Then a flash of steel, a battle cry, then a deathly yell, the enemy had been cornered and he was sent to hell.ChorusFists and tables were flying and chairs sailed through the air.Somebody was dying but people didn’t care. The cops were called but they came too lateto save that poor man’s life. They had to tell the story to that poor man’s grieving wife.ChorusWhen it was all over we surveyed the scene.Spilled beer and blood and broken chairswere where the fight had been.We had to leave, get out of there, we couldn’t take much more, silently and quickly we sneaked out of the back door.Final ChorusIt was just another audience Just another dayWhat a way to earn a dollar What a way to earn some pay.Do it all tomorrow. Do it everyday Just another dollar, just another day.
