Re: 80's Game show music
Quote:Hey Dave, I enjoyed your track, definatly has a gameshow feeling to it. I would have to agree with the guitars being jsut a bit loud, but other than that very cool track. Here is the link to the one i sent in.... i think its a bit slow now that i am listening to it!http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... id=9656The song is..."The Hungry Nintendo"Let me know what you all think! i am having fun listening to everyone's songs! Thanks for checking out my track, Mathew. I listened to yours and I think you named it perfectly, it sounds a lot like an old Nintendo game. Great job!!! This was a fun little project to work on.

Quote:I can't stream from TAXImusic.com at my day gig but I plan on listening when I get home, I'm interested in everyone's interpretations of the listing.I submitted two to this listing. The first is a 60s game show style piece that I've submitted to a similar listing recently:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=1The second is a more 70s style cut that may not be cheesy enough but I thought I'd give it a shot:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=1And for playing our game today, you'll receive................... a contract!!! MazzMazz, these are both great pieces. I agree with Kathleen that the first one is spot on while the second one doesn't sound like a gameshow theme to me. Amazing work by the way. I have a way to go before I can produce that kind of quality, but its fun trying -Dave

Re: 80's Game show music
Kathleen and Dave,Finally listened to your cuts, sorry it took me so long. Both well composed pieces. Dave, your bridge melody sounded a bit dissonant against the chords which, in this case, isn't stylistically on the mark. The synth sounds are 80s for sure and the chord progression too.Kathleen, good use of the horns against the more synthetic background. The overall reverb that you are using makes the whole production sound a bit distant to my ears and may have contributed to the screener's feedback. With digital reverbs, it's tempting to use the full frequency response which goes against nature and what the brain associates with natural spaces. Remember that high frequencies die out pretty quickly out there in the air and so what you hear coming back at you in a concert hall usually has many fewer high frequencies than what originally hit the walls of the hall. Our brain know this already, it's how we determine how far away something is from us without even thinking. If you bounce back everything you put in to a digital reverb, the ear smells something is not right. After this overly long paragraph, the moral of the story is, roll off the highs of your reverb if you're going for a natural sound, which I think you are in your piece.Good work, keep going!!!Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!
