Re: AC Ballad?
Plain and simple, I like it. Kept my attention for a long time. ha ha That doesn't happen very often. My fav singing from 1:40 to 1:50. You just need more hurt in the vox??
Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!

"Mercy" is a cool song! I think the vocals here sound perfect for a folk-y/indie record, and the song sounds like it would slot in perfectly in the middle of Side A. Love your conversational style of melodic rhythm in your lyrics!Zaychi wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 1:45 pmWell for me, it will probably still be a bit before I try that; will try writing different parts for my own first. This was the first song that got me the "dated voacl" (as opposed to "dated instruments"!) in here, so it may well be about the particular song. Or do you hear it in this one: https://soundcloud.com/zaychi/mercy-1 as well? I'm well aware that not hearing a particular comment before doesn't mean that it isn't a problem!

yes this one also sounds dated. and again, it's mostly because of your vocal imo. the reason why others in here don't point this out, is probably cause they're not into contemporary stuff either. just like with other songwriter forums out there, taxi also seem to attract mostly 50 + guys writing and singing the kind of songs they fell in love when they grew up, and never evolved beyond that point. it's just a different world alltogether. ever heard the phrase "you gotta be in it to win it"? goes for songwriters too you know

Yeah to my ear these both sound more like show tunes than something you'd hear on the radio or a spotify playlist. Not bad tunes just not hip and contemporary.
