Re: Addictive Drums
I picked up AD on the weekend. Was a little afraid it wouldn't push hard enough for what I needed but it fits in nicely. Very, very happy!!!

Re: Addictive Drums
Recently downloaded and installed the Reel Machines ADPak; I'm really enthused with the 808, 303 and LinnDrum samples, the layering opportunities are pretty spectacular, even if you wouldn't use the drum machines solo. Lots of tweakability that didn't come with the original machines, too.

Re: Addictive Drums
I used some of those Reel Machine kits to great effect on recent electronica pieces that were placed on the Hollywood show. So I can vouch for their sound and effectiveness. These were Phat back when it was spelled with an F!!

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Re: Addictive Drums
Headsup! There's a new Addictive kit available: http://www.xlnaudio.com/en/products-add ... paks-indie The new tambourine system is probably worth the price by itself, cuz it's designed for hand percussion patterns, with round-robin. (and tambo grooves, included) It looks like they miked up some resonating guitar and bass cabinets in the drum room for additional 'character'-brilliant! The whole thing is sampled from analog tape, to boot. I think it's their best kit, yet; this thing sounds amazing.

UPDATE: Holy Cow!
I downloaded XLNAudio's new Indie ADPak because of the killer-sounding demos on their site, but having installed and banged on 'em for just a few hours...okay all day and half the night, I want to scream this from a mountaintop: the demos barely scratch the surface of what this kit can do; this is brilliant work, their best ever, by far! I've had a half dozen OMG moments, so far (the swingin'-est round-robin tambourine, half-speed kits; holy cow!) Be warned, some of the kick drum treatments will keel yo' subs, the thing is hugely bada$$. The cymbals and snare are more locked-down and subtle, but have surprising range, and every single kitpiece is a gem. The snare is ultra dry and crisp, and fills a hole in XLN's excellent lineup-I'd love to see a snares collection ADPak, with some specialty items and old standbys like a wood-hooped snare, Black Beauty, Supra-Phonic,etc. The toms are particularly well-chosen, with a very adjustable range from fat and dry to positively Bonhamesque. This kit is indeed ideal for modern Indie rock and pop, and will undoubtedly be a breeze to mix in that context, but at the same time it can achieve a very vintage vibe, even within the same preset, depending on how you play it; it's got character for days, and I've been giggling and chortling like a mad scientist on crack for hours on end. So have I found any negatives? You might miss a few meals, and you'll definitely want more beats, triggers and time to play this amazing kit. Also, the crash cymbal feels a little slow. I hope I'm not over-selling this, but I'm really jazzed. (and punked and rocked and popped and....)

Re: Addictive Drums
On the PC, there is a 64bit version which is currently in public beta. On the Mac, there won't be a 64bit version until AD2 comes out. I don't believe there is an ETA for that at this point.

Re: Addictive Drums
XLN has introduced a new authorization system to replace the very tedious previous process. (say that three times, fast) You download an authorizer program and run it whenever you download or purchase new stuff. You might still have to use the old method, if your computer's not connected to the web, but the new method is way more convenient. However, I had to re-downlad a kitpiece (the free DW Subwoofer kick drum) that went missing after running the authorizer.

Re: Addictive Drums
For what it's worth, XLN are offering buy-one-get-one on ADPaks right now (and Sweetwater has them at $49 instead of the usual $59). Buy one ADPak from a retailer, choose a free one from XLN when you add the license to your account (and, of course, the free pack can't be Retro).
I picked up Indie and Metal last night. Initial impressions are very good.
