You have great potential. Keep working hard and trying to improve as a songwriter/singer. The hardest thing to do is not to get discouraged when it comes to music.

Hey Sam -
On "Matter of Time", here's my 2 cents:
1) The Intro immediately had me thinking of the Intro for this mega hit:
"What's Love Got To Do With It" by Tina Turner... for what that's worth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGpFcHTxjZs

2) Sounds to me like you have your own style and delivery that are very good.

Hope that helps.

Of the two SC tracks, "Falling For You", with its simple-but-good hook
gets my vote as having more 'hit' & placement potential.
Since you're singing it that way, maybe consider the title as "Fallin' For You", present tense;
or it could even be "Fallen For You" with a past-tense twist to it.

Well done. Keep at it.

ed. :? 8-) ... I don't know if you are any good...
that'll be up to Santa Claus to decide at the appropriate time! :) :? 8-)
but your songs are good. ;)

Nice songs Sam. I really like your vocals. Keep working at your craft and you will continue to get better. I predict if you keep working hard, you will be successful.

Sam,

Your vocals are good, as are the songs.

From a personal stand point I think Matter of Time is better, but that's only me and that doesn't get your anywhere!

Watch your timing on Falling For You. Something is falling out of time throughout and it's distracting.

John

Sam,

Good songs and singing. I myself like "A Matter of Time" but the 2nd one is good also. I have to say that something about you saying you've been writing since you were very young makes me feel very old. If the shoe fits  I'm looking forward to hearing more. Stick around and best of luck.

Hey Sam, no need to SHOUT man we can hear ya!!

The good news is they are catchy songs ,well constructed and sung well. The way you throw your voice around is hooky and provides interest for the listener.

I found the pumping compression on Falling For You a bit distracting, it's not really a dance track. I would see how it sounds with 3 kick hits to the bar in the chorus instead of 4. [drop the last one]. I don't know its not quite grooving through the chorus sections but the lyrics and melody are memorable. Maybe strip it back and work on it. You could try the Mike Stavrou technique of holding a heavy object like a big book and swing it back and forth in time with the music to get the groove. Crazy I know....but?

You've got talent, these songs could really go somewhere so stick with it.
Every creative person has self doubt especially when you want something bad. If you are working in isolation a bit it can be harder to maintain positive focus,,..[personal experience]
Thats what is good about these forums.

Enjoy it and remember to breathe.

Sam

Your definitely on the right track
Keep writing
I definitely heard the pumping too. It's a distraction.
Take care of that .........BUT that's what early songs and producing are all about

You have an eerily similar voice to Rodriguez
He was an underground songwriter that created quite a buzz but faded when life got to tough only to have a DJ seek him out and revive his career . He was a God in South Africa.

Anyway keep writing..........
