An introduction to a Newbie

Post by eandersonmusic » Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:38 am

Hey all! I am somewhat new to Taxi and the Forums, so I figured it appropriate to introduce myself. I actually joined Taxi late 2020 and the Forums in April this year.. but haven't been making much noise over here. Like many of us introverted musicians, I may have been a little bit shy or apprehensive to share my music (as I am much better in my head than my music shows  ) But I really feel at home with Taxi, and also feel this is where I am supposed to be (as far as using my musical abilities). So here ya go..

I started on my musical path at age 9 with basic piano lessons, which I continued for 2 years. I later picked up the bass when I was 14 and played with a few bands. A few years later I got an Akai S2000 sampler and a drum machine and started making hip hop tracks.
In the winter of '98 I started my enrollment in Berklee College of Music in Boston, in 2002 I graduated with a bachelors degree in Music Production and Engineering (had a great time while I was there ;) ). I then came back to New Jersey and started up my first studio with a few friends and musicians, based in my hometown of Plainfield. I then teamed up with another engineer and a few studio musicians in 2009 and helped construct our newest Brickwindow studio, located in Raritan.
But sadly in 2020 the property was being sold, and we had to close our doors (not before the computer died and I had to buy a completely new setup.. which was bad, but mostly a good thing). It was then that I realized my passion for recording bands/running a studio was dwindling, and not really what I wanted to be doing.
Now fully equipped with the necessary tools to create and compose music all by my lonesome, I feel this is what I should have been doing musically this whole time, but honestly everything leading up to this moment was completely necessary, and I couldn't be happier!

Thanks for spending the time to read this intro.. a little long I'm sure
Looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

Howdy, Erik.
Like most whose life-path has had twists and turns - the experiences & lessons learned along the way will probably bear fruit somewhere/somehow as you've got your feet where you want them.
Cheers, from The Peanut Gallery (having fun here, too!) :? :P

Thanks Peter!
Miss your banter on the Taxi TVs, but glad we can still 'hang' here👍
