Ringo did his job, and he did it well, he may not be as technical as Bonham was, but he got the job done... it's like some people run the marathon, other people walk it - but atleast they finish it in the end. Aw come on Brad! You comparing Friends to Steptoe and Son!No contest!!Agreed though; todays sitcoms are dreadful, on both sides of the pond - in my mumble opinion. We've got nothing today like Steptoe, and the States nothing like Mash - IMHO.Yes, Ringo is an underated drummer. The Beatles did complement each other perfectly. George Harrison said: "Playing without Ringo is like driving a car on three wheels."An' hey, Led Zeppelin were massive everywhere - especially the States. Surely they hit South Africa!

Bearing in mind that when Zep where massive, I think I was a twinkle in my dad's eye... and my mom never really listened to em. She was more into Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull etc....I've tried watching Brit sitcoms and find that I get bored very quickly.... dunno why... but I still think Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother are quality shows... cept for them damn Halifax ads they throw in the middle - sorry, it's been awhile - just HAD to put it in there But Like I said, South Africa is more Americanised, Zep might have been big, but they would have been promoting bands like Kiss, Metallica, Guns and Roses etc a lot more even though there's a few years gap difference. It had something to do with Britain not wanting to give us the rights to their music/t.v.shows etc, that we became so Americanised... Damn Apartheid and all the crap it caused...

Even in the music industry. So some records were very hard to come by. Although there were a few small record shops importing stuff illegally and the like. Of course, some record companies appointed distributors at so-called 'arms length' and still sold their product there anyway. While proclaiming, on the other hand, their abhorrence of apartheid. Hypocrisy in the extreme. But let's not go there Liam.

I used to really dig their tracks!!!!AII didn't know you were a Saffa I lived in SA from 1990 til 2006. I'm an Irishman by birth though (easy, JD1 ) Wife's from 'Maritzburg.Funny you mention Tree63. I knew John Ellis back in 1996 when he used to regularly gig at the Bulldog in Durban with Pete. Such a talented guy. I remember Carlos Petro at Polygram had offered him and Scoop a deal in 1997 and at a showcase gig at The Station John just said, in the middle of the set, 'Carlos, we don't want your deal. We're a Christian band'. To deny Polygram at a time when they really wanted a deal really showed where he was at. Of course, the proof was in the pudding when they signed to Inpop and Blessed Be Your Name went to No 1 in the American CCM charts. The band moved to Nashville about 6 or 7 years ago and went from being an ambiguous Christian outfit to the much more heart on sleeve outfit that they are now. Funnily enough, I bought 'Sunday' (their new album) a few weeks ago and it's their best work to date. Christian or not, they have such a powerful message and are delivering it big time. Great songwriter, for my money.Glad to meetcha Liam

I recorded it and mixed it, but actually, I am not sure if my mix or a remix version that Dre did later is on the soundtrack. My mix was in the film supposedly. At the time I was very busy in that period and it wasn't high on my priority list. I don't even have a copy of the soundtrack. That's the irony, it wasn't a very good song! Wodinlord

Just to tune in on the drum thing, I'd say you owe it to yourself to check out the new Superior Drummer from Toontrack. It's not coming out until next month, but I checked it out at NAMM and it's pretty insane...kind of like a hugely amped up version of EZ Drummer, but still really easy to use. It has tons of mic/mixing options for every kit, and it's optimized for use with V-Drums, if that's your thing.Just my two cents Dan
