What did you submit? Can we hear it?I didn't have time to go for any of the jazz/swing ones. The only jazz piano piece I have right now I'm holding back because a library is interested in it.I'm also writing a big orchestral piece and trying to do an epic/electronica piece for the sports listings (oh, and walk the dog, clean the kitchen, pay the bills )Good luck! I think your stuff is better than you think it is!!Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Oh, that's jes bad. Can I hear your orchestral/epic pieces? I wanted to go for that too but it takes me a very long time to write something like that. I was itchin' ta do it though. I'd love to hear yours when you're done. Good luck!!I don't think mine's gonna fly. They wanted updated swing but I think I missed it.......it's more like the Bus Boys meet the Lennon Sisters. On crack. http://www.broadjam.com/player/player.as....ionI NDEX=13102Be gentle.

I really liked the piece! I missed the bass, the piano left hand was boogying but wasn't full enough. What was the listing specifically asking for? Here's a link to an orchestral piece I did late last year. My piece in progress is more of a march:http://www.johnmazzei.com/song/46Have fun and good luck!Mazz

Wow, Mazz!! I'd pepper you with questions but how annoying would that be? It was wonderful!! I'd be drooling over a Harry Potter soundtrack like that. (actually, I think I just did... ). Beautiful job. I hope you'll let me hear the anthemic one you're writing ala Gladiator. I'm such a sucker for that kind of thing..Here's the listing and you'll see immediately why I won't get the forward (beyond the obvious technical problems).....Fun, up-tempo, rockin’ “RETRO SWING” BIG BAND/SWING JAZZ SONGS [with vocals - no instrumentals] a la Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, etc. are needed by a large Music Publisher/Production/Producer Mgmt. Co. that has offices in Los Angeles and Europe. They want to find amazing tracks to pitch to film/TV/advertising projects - both in the U.S. and internationally. They’re not looking for Glenn Miller Big Band Swing -- your stuff has to rock. Of course, the bands mentioned above have all been influenced by Glenn Miller [and Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, etc.], but the company wants an updated, fresh take on Swing. Vocal and instrumental performances of the highest quality are needed. (I tried to funk it up vocally but I don't think it was enough!) We’ve been asked to be very selective, as they want “the best of the best.” No uncleared samples of any kind and you must own 100% of your song’s rights [publishing & master rights]. They offer an array of publishing deals -- exclusive, non-exclusive, etc. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. As always, we will notify everyone via e-mail, whether your submissions have been Forwarded or Returned. Submissions must be received no later than 4:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time (California time), Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007. TAXI # D070918RS Write more! Write more! You've got a big fan here. Squids

Uh, I wouldn't count this one out for this listing! Those bands mentioned have all done pieces like yours at one time or another. If it gets returned, I would say maybe the production was holding it back, if anything. Thanks for listening. I may have to cool it on the listings for a while, my TV gig is just ramping up again and those people won't wait!Take care and keep the faith!Mazz
