Ascap or BMI??

I've been an Ascap member forever but it just seems like they let a lot of money slip through the cracks for us small time writers. There have been many times where I know my music that is registered w/ Ascap has been played/used for something and I never get paid for it. I've also have been hearing a lot of people say that BMI is a lot better and that I should terminate w/ Ascap and sign up w/ BMI. Any thoughts on this? I know I can't sign up w/ BMI until I've completely terminated w/ Ascap so is there any downfalls to leaving one for the other??
