ASCAP or BMI?

Post by leonid » Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:25 am

Hi, I'm looking to join a PRO organization soon. There has been mostly criticism of both groups and it's really tough to decide which to join. I mainly write instrumental music. Does anybody have a recommendation about either group or know about their foreign royalties, affiliations with other organizations, etc?I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks, and have a nice day.LeonLMuzik8@aol.comwww.AdventuresOfLeonid.com

Hi Leon,This question has come up a lot. In short there really is very little difference between BMI and ASCAP. If there is any kind of draw back (and it's not much), ASCAP requires you to register as both a publisher and as a songwriter in the event you are your own publisher.Other than that, toss a coin and choose heads or tails..
