Re: Being Deliberate
Uh-oh.So I'm a week late. Sorry.Anyway, I need to post up my three aims for this cycle...1) finish the first round of lyrics on the three pieces I've got rolling through my head, HOPEFULLY with the help of the new version of MasterWriter that should be on the way.2) Spend LOTS of time learning my way around MasterWriter 2.0(sorta the part B of the first one, so I'll list 4 total)3) Get my first custom critique on a song of mine that just might be the most commercially viable piece I've written to date.4) Start working on a couple of new instrumentals I'm playing around with..."Black Widow" sorta jazzy/creepy"Virginia Creeper" fun, uptemp bluegrass-ishSee y'all here in a few weeks.Ted

Re: Being Deliberate
December 15 already? Wow I hope you all had productive months in every way (musical, personal, professional, emotional, spiritual, interpersonal, and any other 'al' I failed to mention). This is a crazy time of year, but it's good to take time here.Regarding my December 15 actions:1. Finish the title song and create underscore for a Habitat for Humanity DVD I’m working on.Mostly finished, but they have a few suggestions that I'm incorporating.2. Start reading a book I bought at the Rally.I'm LOVING Robin Frederick's book It's full of valuable information that's easy to read (and hard to put down). 3. Make a gear wish list for familyI've done all I can. The rest is up to them.In other Taxi-related news: I got a forward! Well, I know that January 15 will come around pretty quickly, so here's a wimpy list (which beats no list at all ):1. Keep learning with Robin's book.2. Write a new piece of music and submit it to at least one listing.3. Make the Habitat people happy.Okay, let's make it a good one.Rayzer

Re: Being Deliberate
Hey, Rayzer.Isn't Robin's book amazing?!?!?!? I swear, it READS just like her live workshops... Totally energetic and -NOW- and pay-attention-coz-we-ve-got-lots-of-ground-to-cover... I have read SO many books in the last couple of years, and hers is without a doubt one of my faves. I am SO thankful that Michael L. decdided to publish this book... A GREAT tool to add to our arsenals.OK, anyway...I totally was a wash-out on my plans for this month. I got distracted by the collapse of our national economy (which had major, serious ramifications for me, personally...which cut down on what I was able to accomplish this last month).custom critique of my new neo-traditional country tune? No chance. I can barely feed myself. (I'm not making this up...I made $6.84 on my 4+ hour shift at work yesterday. I was there for more than two hours before I even had my first table.)However, working on the concepts of those two new tunes I mentioned has continued. I honestly don't feel like I'm any closer to versions that I'm excited about, but at least I'm still keeping them on the burner...As far as MasterWriter goes, I was fully expecting to see an email from them TODAY letting me know that all my issues with my CC# had FINALLY been resolved, and I would have it in my computer within 24 hours; but I was apparently mistaken. No idea what the story is, but I STILL don't have it on my laptop. We (MasterWriter and I) need to resolve this problem, and soon...No matter.I'll be back tomorrow with my plans for this next month.wooHOO!Happy Holidays, btw, to all of you.XOXOX

A GREAT tool to add to our arsenals.Well said, Ted.I'm sorry to hear about your financial issues. This time of year is hard enough already. It's even harder to focus on being creative when you don't know where your next meal's gonna come from. I like the quote in "It's a Wonderful Life" when George is talking to Clarence. It goes something like this:George: You don't happen to have eight thousand bucks on you?Clarence: We don't need money in heaven.George: I suppose not... It comes in pretty handy down here, bub.But then at the end of the film, George was overwhelmed by the love of family and friends. Oh, yeah...and all his material needs met to overflowing, but that was secondary to what really mattered.I think each of us needs a George Bailey moment once in a while to keep our spirits intact. I hope you get yours, Ted. You deserve it.Rayzer

Re: Being Deliberate
Nothing new to report on my end. The creative energy is starting to come back a little bit. Things at the business are still holing together with silly string. This global financial crisis is really going to be hell. The red ink is bleeding out of every orifice everywhere I look. Its at times like this that we should be glad we have our musical talents, just to take the edge out.... Even if the electric grid shuts off, you can still strum a folky-box or tickle the keys and sing, bow a fiddle, or bang a drum.ArkJack
