Hi guys,
I would like to know what mics you use when recording vocals using your smartphone for rough cuts / sketches of your song ideas to have a clear and powerful enough sound.
I know a lot of people use the SHURE MV88 for iPhones and other Apple products, but what about Android users? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5 mIni
Thank you for your help

This is what I found on the shure website
The MV88 is a stereo mic, for vocals either the mv51 or mv5 is probably a better choice for recording vocals.

I don't think your phone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini supports them though.
http://www.shure.com/americas/products/ ... os-and-usb** MOTIV™ Digital Microphones and Recording Solutions are compatible with Android devices that support USB Audio Class 2.0 and USB On-The-Go (OTG) connectivity. Not all Android devices are compatible. Android is a trademark of Google Inc. USB On-The-Go (OTG) Cable not included.

That's what I was afraid of! The Shure ones won't fit on my S5 mini!

For scratch vocals and short melodic sketches, I suspect most folks use the built in mic. Otherwise, any USB mic might do with the right app and an appropriate cable.
