"Bold" rock instrumental cue

Post by superblonde » Fri May 28, 2021 2:16 pm

Have a listen to my progress towards an original bold indie rock instrumental cue for a future submission. And comments welcome. Probably need to double this length with a contrasting section I guess.

I'm so bold, I'm so indie,
I'm bold, I'm indie, I'm a bolding indie.

Joy Division! Cool band, but not many listings with their reference songs coming by...

I would be hard pushed to call it broadcast quality or contemporary. Sounds like something from the 80s..I don't think Zaychi was too far off the mark with JD

I know its only a demo but its dripping in reverb that IMHO is too much. It pushes the guitar too far back, doesn't help the drums or bass, and doesn't say 'indie'. I have to agree with the other comments that there's more of a retro rock vibe. The stop/gap is also a bit odd.

Very interesting, but I don't hear bold?

I don't know what "Bold" means. Only 1 recent listing had that term. The excessive toms is a take on "bold".

Eventually humans will record the track. If it doesn't go in the trash. So I am not focused on VST tone for rock tracks.

Joy Division is an unexpected comparison, they are still popular. A band from the parents' parents era.

It sounds like it was recorded in a Subway bathroom.

Heard of shoe gaze? New genre called toilet gaze.

I probably didn't hit the intended description with the "BOLD" but decided to try to track and mix it anyways as practice. I don't know how to mix so that skill is a work in progress.

Hopefully this is better. Demo #2 Still not up to par though.
