Broadcast Quality (Just Checking)
Hi All,
I am a total new member and don't have a lot of experience in the sync world but do have experience elsewhere.
When a post says: "Broadcast Quality Required"
I am assuming they are asking for 24 bit rate / 48,000hz sample rate, with LUFS of 12-14.
Or do they want a higher sample rate? Different loudness scale (ie. RMS)? or Different Loudnes level?
I appreciate the input. This will be a huge help in planning out my submissions.
Cheers,
Bryan

Hey Bryan, you got that right but there is more. [You can submit mp3 files for the pitch but if you get a deal I think the average is what you said. Others will chime in here].
Broadcast quality is also a generic term covering mix, arrangement and performance.
Pitch, timing, instrument sounds, mixing- they all come under this umbrella here.

Re: Broadcast Quality (Just Checking)
Hey Bryan,
In this context, broadcast quality just refers to the perceived quality of instrumentation, mix, and overall production of the music itself. The screener will determine if your music is on the same level as other pieces in the same style. Some people get worried that the format that taxi uses (mp3) will degrade their quality so much so that it would eliminate them from being “Broadcast quality”, but that’s not the case at all. This refers to the quality of the music itself, not the slightly degraded file.
When your music gets forwarded, and if the recipient (a library owner or music supervisor) decides to get in touch with you about it, they will supply the info regarding what type of format they want (i.e. 24bit, 48k etc), as well as all the other requirements for alt mixes and stems and stuff.
Hope that helps!
Andrew

Re: Broadcast Quality (Just Checking)
Thank you both for the clarification. I assumed the musicianship part but was more curious about technical aspects.
Again, thank you!

Thanks everyone, I had the same query! I was worried that the quality of my audio isn't what it should be but I think it's alright and reassuring to know that if they do like it, they'll come back with requirements and not just write it off!
