Bug in the DAW. Re-install or not to Re-install?

Hi 100 times more tech savvy than me Taxi members.

My Cubase Elements 9 (run on windows 10) has developed some kind of bug and keeps locking and crashing. I am now at the stage of thinking about re-installing. If I do re-install, will my third party plugins re-attach themselves automatically, or will I have to re-attach all those plug-ins as well?

your plugins are probably in the default location file? Probably C: Steinberg vst. If not, just change the location under preferences.

I agree that you should make sure you are on the updated version first. Either way, yes it is safe to uninstall and reinstall the program, because when you first open the freshly re-installed program, it will seek out and find all the plugins.

The Steinberg Library Manager is a great help to keep your files in order—it even tells you when you have duplicate files in different places, and can automatically delete the extras when told to do so. If there are extras, you will see an exclamation point on the Details tab of the Library Manager.

Other reasons for hanging abound, mostly based on three things—processor speed, memory and disc space. The minimum system requirements for Cubase are listed here, if you scroll down a way: https://new.steinberg.net/cubase/compare-editions/ I would make sure you have better than those minimums. Extra RAM makes a big difference on any system.
