Can anyone give me some input on this?

Post by Dtoy » Thu May 07, 2020 10:15 pm

Ive had some success withTaxi,, but I've had the last handful of songs rejected,, and I'm a bit bummed,,, I'm sure I mostly submit songs that are not 100% correct for the part,,,
The listing is below,, a link to the song on soundcloud is below that ,,, I'd love any input you could offer... ( btw this is just a first run rough mix so I could hear all the parts together Don't Judge too harshly :) )

HIGH-ENERGY SKATER ROCK SONGS (A.K.A SKATE PUNK) with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a British Music Licensing Company with GREAT Worldwide Distribution and lots of Movie Trailer and TV Placements.
NOTE: We recently ran this request as TAXI #S200423SK – but the company needs more material! If you submitted to TAXI #S200423SK, please submit different material this time around.
Please submit Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that are in the general stylistic ballpark of the references below:

"Fatlip " by Sum 41
"Self Esteem" by The Offspring
"Stickin' In My Eye" by NOFX

Thx in advance!

I think you've caught the Sum 41 vibe
I'm hearing some Orange County Punk in there as well
Wonderful tune, I see that as going forward!
Keep pumping 'em out!
Cheers

One thought though...
You might want to pull out the reference to "Hollywood" in the spoken word part
It could limit some chances for the tune to be used

To me, this sounds more like first-wave (70's) punk than second wave (90's+) like the reference songs... first wave was more chaotic like this track, for second wave that was merely an attempted facade for a professional production and sound. I wonder if it will work for this listing, then again, maybe they are charmed by that?

Thx for the input,, but just so I know where to work,, are you saying the song is the wrong genre? Or that the production quality is not there? sorry this may not be the right forum spot for all of this...

Well I'm saying that this sounds more first-wave than second-wve like the references... so yeah, I guess wrong "genre" though it' s STILL punk of course.

And it's not a criticism on production; to me, first-wave meant much more than second-wave... just a different drive!

Understand me right, I really like the song, just played it again just for the heck of it. Reminds me of pogo more than skate though.

Oh and please, push up the "solo" guitar (yeah, not a punk word, but OK) around 2:02 up by about TEN dB!
