"Catchy Melodies, And An Infectious, Memorable Chorus."
Simple Question: Does the band RADIOHEAD have "Catchy melodies, and an infectious, memorable chorus" in their material? There's an Alt-Rock listing that specifies RADIOHEAD as what they want to hear, but then repeats that "infectious, memorable chorus" line in the description. HUH? I don't understand.
Thanks in advance,
Ernstinen

Sometimes. I haven't read the listing but from previous experience I believe that often the requester has a specific song in their mind. Maybe he/she is humming High and Dry all day long.

Funny, I'm not much of a RADIOHEAD fan, but High and Dry is the one song of theirs that sticks out to me that has an "infectious, memorable chorus".
If i was a bettin' man... I'd check with Taxi to make sure it's not a mistake, and if not, write something along the lines of "High and Dry":)

i just listened to "creep". I'm not familiar with the band, or alt rock, but I'd say yes. Generally if the melody doesn't catch and infect me, I don't listen very long, and I listened through the song.
It's not a glassy tenor pop melodic that gives an adverse infection of cheesy naivety.
It seems boilerplate, I mean I can't imagine anyone buying a song without a catchy and infectious memorable melody whether there's a chorus or not.

I agree with Rob plus I'd also add 'Fake Plastic Trees' .

Re: "Catchy Melodies, And An Infectious, Memorable Chorus."
Here's an example of what I'm talking about: Taxi listing #Y170906AR (Abstract, Alternative Rock Songs). I listened to the examples, and none of them had anything near "An infectious, Memorable Chorus." Actually, none of them had a chorus at all! They were moody paintings with sound.
I guess my question is if the TAXI writer copies and pastes that same line, because it seems that almost every listing has the same written description: "Catchy melodies, and an infectious, memorable chorus," when almost all of the examples that the client gives don't have any such thing! Many of them have a verse/bridge structure with no chorus, or no structure at all; just a series of samples and synth sounds to make up a musical collage... Why write that line when it has nothing to do with what the client is actually looking for?
Still confused,
Ern

Because, "Catchy melodies, and an infectious, memorable bridge", would create more confusion??ernstinen wrote:... "Catchy melodies, and an infectious, memorable chorus," ... Why write that line when it has nothing to do with what the client is actually looking for?

because sometimes the client asks for tuna with good taste, and the return says, "Sorry Charlie, the client wanted tuna that tastes good"!
Ultimately it's art over algorithm. That's not to say it's overly complicated or mysterious, it's merely translating human experience (common sense?) over something like an IBM Watson AI computer program, lol! If you could list all the qualities, you can still miss the target. Generally, I am not adverse to algorithms, but I am aware of their limitations.

Ern & Len - in appreciation for your eloquent use of language, I can't wait to read the listing that asks for a piece with this description...
"Please provide broadcast-quality moody paintings with sound, art with algorithms, and a musical collage - max. 2:00 in length.
Don't rip off other artists - just don't even Van Gogh there!"
