Hello,
I've never tried chillhop before but wanted to give something new a shot. Am I on the right track with this one? I'm considering replacing the key change at the 2:05 mark as I'm pretty sure modulation is not desired in film/tv. Do you agree that there should be no key change? Thanks for listening!

*** UPDATE***
After some feedback, I did a version with no key change (Version 3) to be "safe" and one where the key change is longer and comes in sooner (Version 2). Which do you think sounds best/ would be best to submit for film/tv purposes?
Thanks for your help everyone!
--------------------
CHILL, LO-FI HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTALS (AKA CHILLHOP) is needed by a great Music Library with International Distribution and lots of success in Film and TV placements.
They’re looking for Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:
"wool gloves" by imagiro
"drift.." by nohidea
"Dreamin" by Xori
Please send in well-produced Chillhop Instrumentals with the laid-back vibe and feel of the references above. Your submissions should have a cool “lo-fi” sound, and be very smooth with simple Hip-Hop drums and smooth pads and/or keys. Think of the type of music that could be used for study music or for cool meditative sessions to relax to.
TAXI Tip: Be careful not to overdo it for this request! The key is in the name: “Chill” Hop. Any sounds or instrumentation that is too overbearing, or over the top won’t work. Give them something chill, laid-back, and groovy!
All submissions should be 2 to 4 minutes long (give or take) with Non-Faded endings. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ Songs, sounds, or any other form of media.
NOTE: Genre-Appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed – in other words, cool, Lo-Fi recordings could work for this!
This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Monday, February 17th, 2020. TAXI # S200217UR

Re: Chill Hop Listing - Chilldren
Thanks for the feedback Tom! I appreciate you taking the time to listen. Yeah I originally put it in to break it up and give the listener something a little different but I don't want it to be "distracting" in a bad way.

Man I dunno - I read your post and was prepared to get jarred and I thought the modulation sounded great. Super tasteful, really made me feel good, lifted my ears, made the return to the home key satisfying. Maybe even that is too much of an "arc" for TV though, I couldn't say. I didn't find it distracting at all. On the flip side, and I'm not a TV producer so take this with a grain of salt, but I can imagine a situation where that "lift" would be timed with something in the scene and support it nicely.
Also, is that a real piano?
Cheers,
Mike

Re: Chill Hop Listing - Chilldren
Hey Mike,
It's not a real piano but its the best plugin I've ever heard. I just got it from native instruments. It's the Noire Felt piano. It's all sampled from Nils Frahm's piano.
Thanks for the feedback! I like it too as I felt it was a nice change but I'm going to work out a version today that will avoid the key change just to be safe. Maybe I'll submit both. I'll upload it to this playlist so you can compare if you want.
Thanks!
