Contemporary Sounds Recommendations

Post by johndalenow » Thu Jan 09, 2020 8:26 pm

What are some of the latest and greatest CONTEMPORARY sound presets available. I'm getting way too many TDs based on my using "dated" sounds. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I have purchased and use "Battery IV" and "LA Strings" but I need any and everything else. Elaborate as much as possible for my benefit please. Thanks a bunch! John

I would generally say Omnisphere, but it all depends what genres are you working on.

Oh and Splice!!! latest and greatest, updated daily

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into Splice right away. Sounds like the "ticket!"

Best!

Quite a while ago, I submitted a synth cue entirely made with Omnisphere. Returned as the screener thought a couple of sounds were not contemporary enough :D

Also, careful with using Splice, always layer together at least a couple of samples, so that the original digital footprint cannot be identified

Depends on what type of music you are making. Also you can make many sounds either dated or more contemporary by the way you play/program them and also process them.

I would say a big tool in your armoury is stacking up sounds so you get something unique. But it's no use if you play it in a stilted manner etc.

Thank you, Brother Mark. "Stacking" and experimenting sounds good to me. If you get a chance, I would love to hear your remarks on my latest Contemporary Trap post titled "Good To Be Bad."

Best!

Depending on the genre, Nexus with its expansions is also a good resource: https://refx.com
Loopcloud is also very popular but make sure you don't use melodic loops in isolation in your tracks as Tunesat will get confused...(and some publishers already sent messages to that end) https://www.loopcloud.com/cloud/

What genre(s) are you trying to create? That has a big impact on what to use.
