Cool Quirk - Ears Please

Post by LamarPecorino » Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:45 am

"Cool Quirk" is a collaboration between Kye Saunders and myself. We appreciate any thoughts or comments. Thanks in advance. It was written for the following listing.

https://soundcloud.com/user-155785959/c ... al_sharing

QUIRKY, PLAYFUL EDM INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a boutique Music Library that gets tons of placements in TV Shows!

This Library wants Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references we got directly from them:

"Disco Dance" by FASSounds

"Aww Shucks" by Michael Baiardi

Please submit modern EDM Instrumental Cues that could establish an overall fun, quirky, and playful feel in a range of scenes. Your submissions should have slick beats and polished production. Craft your Cues around a singular motif, and create a sense of forward momentum and dynamics by layering instrumentation in and out as they progress. Instrumentation in the general style of the references will suit your submissions best.

This Library is open to hearing Cues with "some very light Trap or Hip-Hop beats" incorporated into your pieces as well – as long as the overall feel remains rooted in the EDM genre. Your production and any virtual instruments or samples you use should be high-quality and current-sounding.

Your submissions should be approximately 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

NOTE: This Library will need your Cues' stems (the individual tracks for each instrument/sample), as well, but not yet! All you need to submit for now are the full Instrumental Cues, but please have the stems on hand and ready to send at a moment’s notice if you get a call or email from the Library. If you don’t have the ability to get your stems in their hands within an hour after being contacted, please don’t submit for this!

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal with a 3-year reversion. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you'd like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI Screener who also works for the Music Library! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Saturday, January 8th, 2022. TAXI # S220108EM

You have great production...and the quirky sounds definitely fit the listing. I would do a couple more passes on the melody (top line), as I'm not sure that it is memorable/interesting enough. Something that Ryan Tedder does in his song writing is for each section of the song, he tries 15-20 different melodies, just by improvising. Record all of them, and then choose the best one for that particular section. Often, the best melodies will not be the first thing that comes to our minds, or our fingers, in this case. You may stumble upon something really special on the 7th or 8th take. Just a thought.

Thanks for listening and writing, Jeff. We are still working on finding the right single motif. We weren't able to make the deadline this time, but we'll be ready next time.
