Re: Copyright summary
Just a note...with just about all the music being digital, the author, publisher, ISRC codes, date, title, etc are embedded into the data along with the actual composition. Once published it would be very hard to prove something other than it is your music. There is new software coming out that will recognize each and every composition on the web and ownership. I am often asked for the ISRC codes but very rarely for the US Copyright number.

Hi Pat and Sherry, psbelote wrote:Hi Everyone,
I don't know if this works or would hold up in court or not, but I upload an mp3 of a new song to my web site with all the time/date/writer info in the comments of the properties of the file. I use godaddy for my web space, and figure if I have a problem while waiting for the snails at the Library of Congress to do their thing, godaddy could verify that the file was uploaded at a specific time and that it hasn't been tampered with since the upload. I think this would work the same way with a youtube upload, or a blogspot upload. Any thoughts on this?

I´d like to help more, but I think everything was already discussed.
There is no answer where I would disagree.
"time stamp" system was discussed too, I agree with Casey, after reading many
other posts and info about this - the chance to have a problem with time stamp
in court is really small (I think it wouldn´t get so far).
You already mentioned one of the alternatives - Library of Congress - this option
seems to be the most appropriate for handling the authorship.
