She can record in a home studio and get music on TV / Movies etc. Her voice is ready and it can be done n the safety of her own space.

If she wants to perform in front of others then sure, that's a whole different skillset and I would urge her to find a good vocal coach, not because she needs to learn to sing but because confidence is partly having the technique to fall back on when nerves kick in and also the right teacher will be able to unearth more in her voice and give her a broader palate of sound through which to express herself. Some also teach performance skills as well.

I agree with all of the above. However, it be a real shame if vocal coaching caused her to lose some of the more emotional natural inflections she has right now. I'd rather hear that sort of raw talent than precocious, over-confident Disney kids. Instead of a vocal coach maybe all she needs is some performance-type coaching to help her general confidence, and it might open up the possibility of live performance should she wish to do that. Good luck to her though.

I think she has a very emotional and captivating voice and well suited to that particular song. I would encourage her to keep at it :)

Hi Cass I tried to make it better this morning by EQ ing some of the acoustic bad notes bonk. Only problem is that it took a lot out of her vocal. I played a left and right acoustic along side to fill it up a bit. One capo’ d up.
Added a bass. Hard to play along with a track without any percussion. I will post the final when I mess a bit longer. Thanks for the positive comment

The first verse was not good singing at all but the rest was good after the breath muscles kicked in. Probably because she doesn't practice vocals daily. Needs to learn consistency in breath control. Could be as good as any pop or jazz vocalist with the daily practice. Doesn't sound like it needs EQ for the style. Needs a better complete take. Singing in "fragile emotional style" requires more training than singing "normal" because it needs more fine-tuned breath control.

I would not recommend anyone go to a "vocal coach" after the many bad vocal instructors I have seen. Bad, real bad. Instead find a choir to join and simply do the work for the songs.

Hi SB Most would not post a one take raw recording for sure. I just wanted a take on her style I guess. She is a free spirit kinda gal. No interest in boys (yet), only a few friends, and thinks like an adult. Straight "A" student. I saw her a few weeks ago and she sang along with me and seemed to enjoy it, I told her the strings on her guitar needed replacing (as you heard the bonking on the D string) she said she just didn't play much anymore. Now, all of a sudden her creative juices kicked in is excited about it again. Go figure. I have another granddaughter (17) a beautiful blonde, and she is a great singer. I have one recording of the two singing that is awesome. They didn't know it at the time but they sang harmony through the entire song??? Thanks a lot for taking the time

Your obvious love and admiration for your grandkids probably fuels them in ways you'll never know.

They have someone that enjoys their singing and music making and tells them so. Everything after that is icing on the cake.
