CPU Overload Issue

Post by nrgband » Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:35 pm

MacBook Pro 2.4 8 core i9, 32GB ram, 4TB SSD internal for DAW, 4TD SSD External for Sound Library, 1TB SSD external for Program Files

I tend to always have CPU overload issues when I get to mix downs on big projects for trailer scoring with spitfire, EW, Heavyocity, etc and mastering with Ozone.
I like to stay with Virtual instruments instead of mixing down to audio

Don’t know if I should upgrade my system and add a slave PC computer.
Checking out Vienna Pro Server but it seems a bit daunting to have to create a new Template
I hear other people have 100’s of tracks and I get bogged pretty quickly with 30-40. Not sure if I am missing some trick or not to get my existing system to work better?
Would love any input on this

That's a decent Mac, but you are using a lot of CPU-intensive libraries. It could be several things... are you routing individual tracks to effects busses for stuff like reverb or delay, or are you adding effects in each individual channel strip? If the latter, that could be a CPU killer.

What are your Preferences/Recording/Audio settings like "I/O Buffer Size" and "Recording Delay?"
