Cry Me a Beer

Post by good4somethingbum » Mon Jul 28, 2014 1:01 pm

for a female vocal...

Cry Me a Beer ©2014 Robert George BMI

Well now…here you are at my door
Cos the bimbo you left me for
Told you she don’t want you anymore

And your eyes’re lookin’ red
From all the tears you’ve shed
It’s a hot night in July
So if you’re gonna cry

Cry me a beer
And put it here in my hand
Don’t go wastin’ those tears
Just cry me a beer
Then you can kiss my can

Guess your new love didn’t last long
That girl you longed for is long gone
And you want a shoulder you can cry on

But if you want sympathy
You won’t get it from me
But I got a big ole thirst
So turn on the waterworks and

Cry me a beer
I’ll even drink from a glass
Yeah, don’t go dryin’ your tears
Just cry me a beer
Then you can kiss my ass
YEAH…just cry me a beer
Then you can kiss my ass

Mister, ain’t it a shame
She took alla your cash
Shot you down in flames
And you need a place to crash
Tears’re runnin’ down your cheek
Like a Rocky Mountain creek…so

Cry me a beer
And put it here in my hand
Don’t go wastin’ those tears
Just cry me a beer
Then you can kiss my can
HELL YEAH!
Cry me a beer
I’ll even drink from a glass
Yeah, don’t go dryin’ your tears
Just cry me a beer
Then you can kiss my ass

YEAH…just cry me a beer
Then you can kiss my ass

Are you looking for a critique? Do u have any music for it yet?

I see where you're going to with it but just wondered about music also. What style are you thinking about?

Hi Patrick...I'm not really looking for a critique though all are welcome. It's an older lyric I bumped because a composer asked me for something in that style. I don't know if he liked it, haha.

It's in the vein of something sassy by Miranda Lambert. :)

We-ell....yes. not much in the top 40 Nashville format which is mostly McLove songs. You can look down through my stuff and see. I would consider Old Navy Footlocker to be country but I think it would freak out a Music Row publisher.

I agree! I like the older stuff myself. Early 40's to early mid 2000's In country. I've tried writing some newer ish country but u know, just doesn't seem to be there.

I can write it after a lobotomy but what's the point? Unless you have
a grand for a demo and you've spent months or years kissing ass in Nashville and networking, you're wasting ink. I write what I'm proud to write and let the wind bring me fortune as it chooses.

I didn't go to the rally. I'm not a member of Taxi but I've always heard good things about it. I'm just poor and I don't travel much anyway. A few of my cowriters are members and we've had some forwards.
