Check that your AV software isn't scanning every file as it gets created / changed. I would disconnect from the internet and then disable your AV software and try it again.
Oh I get it… AV = antivirus, not Audio/Video
You guys always keep me on my toes *splat*

Have you contacted Steinberg support? See what they say.
Try disabling anything else running on your PC--- anti-virus, backup programs, whatever. You can run msconfig and make sure no programs you don't need start automatically on boot. My guess is something else running is causing the issue. I just Googled and read that Windows Defender can cause problems with it.
Good luck!

Nope, AV (not Audio/Video…) software stays up. It would have stayed up even if it fixed it, of course.

Turn off Windows Defender specifically and give it a try if this is a Windows machine. If you don't know how to, Google it.

i only had issues when i had 3rd party antivirus and firewall running (avira and zonealarm). havent had any issue since they were uninstalled.
windows defender hasnt caused any issues but i had put any music related programs in their safelist. if you enter “controlled folders” in start prompt, you can check which programs are being blocked by windows security.
is it that you cant turn off the antivirus program or that its not an option for you (it is company policy to have it running?) and to clarify, you’re referring to windows defender or a third party antivirus program?

It can’t be turned off due to company policy, but I did have IT disable it for me for a few minutes (while they watched over my shoulder). That wasn’t it… friggin Steinberg.
Third party AV. I can’t remember the brand off the op of my head.
