CURRENT-SOUNDING COUNTRY-Based INSTRUMENTALS - 2 FORWARDS

Post by levelone » Mon May 21, 2018 8:56 am

2 forwards on the listing below. Would be nice to get a call back on this one!

Tracks:

https://soundcloud.com/level-one-music/ ... tv/s-UdrrM

https://soundcloud.com/level-one-music/ ... n-the-dust

Listing:

CURRENT-SOUNDING COUNTRY-Based INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Major Music Publisher for a Top, Grammy Award-Winning Songwriter in Nashville. They’re on the hunt for Mid-To-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could easily be used as chart-worthy songs for artist like (but not limited to): Walker Hayes, Sam Hunt, Jake Owen, etc., etc., etc. Listen to the following references to get an idea of the feel and vibe they need: “You Broke Up with Me” by Walker Hayes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A56p-ZSZ5Vc “Break Up In A Small Town” by Sam Hunt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOb4VUgRqo0 “American Country Love Song” by Jake Owen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnyOOSE0z1c Although the references above have vocals, this pitch is for instrumentals only! Please send them super strong, well-crafted Instrumentals that sound like they could be Hit Country Songs with the right Top-Line added to them. Your Instrumentals should have super current, non-stock melodies and Contemporary Country instrumentation that has a modern production style and sound. They would love to hear tracks that are on the border of Pop/Rock, but your submissions must still be rooted in a Country sound and vibe. NOTE: Stripped-down, guitar or piano demos are ok to submit as long as it’s incredibly obvious how strong your Instrumental is or could be if re-produced. But, ideally they would like to hear full productions. The deal will be negotiated between you and the Publishing Company, but it’s pretty obvious that the deal is likely to be a co-write with whoever adds the topline. Please do not submit songs that are already in any other catalogs or signed to any other publishing companies. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or on CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, May 14th, 2018. TAXI #Y180514CC

Solid-sounding tracks, Jason - good luck with them.

Honestly - a "Country Instrumental" is an amusing oxy-moron is some regards - when Country music is most commonly associated with a storytelling song.
I guess with the advent of "New Country" - that doesn't matter any more... same as it's done away with fiddles and pedal-steel guitars. :?
Oh well... I'm off to the studio in a few minutes - to mix a new Old-School/Classic Country SONG... the kind with words... and lyrics, too!
:?

Nice tracks! How are you recording your acoustic instruments? (Guitars, banjos, etc). Just curious - I always like hearing how other people get their sound. Yours sound great BTW.

Thanks guys! We have lyrics and vox for these but took em off for the submission. Whatever works right!

ChazAldi, Im always curious how others get their sound as well. My acoustic instruments are all recorded with a Neuman U87 and / Or a Rhode Nt5 thru an Audio Technologies TMA2 Preamp and Tubelink Compressor. I don't really compress going in, just use it for the flavor. It seems to fatten up a signal because its all tubes. On acoustics I also record a direct signal and blend that in with the Mic. I will usually do 2 passes of each performance on acoustic and sometimes banjo that get panned stereo.

Thanks for taking the time to satisfy my curiosity! Sounds like a great method.

Great to see you are not "precious" about your "babies".

+1 to small and large diaphragm through tubes. I use an Nt5 and an AKG C414. Sometimes I put the AKG up by my right ear other times I just stick them out in front with the Rode on top of the AKG. Its reaffirming for me to see our methods are similar :D .

Best of luck with the forwards.
