Trying to get a feel for submittingI'm sending two songsHeartaches Make Me CryTrains leaving in the mornintaxi.com/countrybeginningstunecore.com/music/countrybeginningsdo i even come close to what they are asking for?could ya all be so kind and easy on the kickingtake a look and listenthanks richard CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS for an artist a la GARY ALLAN are needed by a Major Nashville Label. Songs with a Country/Rock/Pop edge, combined with really unique lyrics, will be considered strongly for this one. This artist sings lyrics with depth and heavy emotion, so a heartfelt perspective as in "Smoke Rings In The Dark" will be acceptable. Fun, mid to uptempo songs could also rise to the top - not silly or too "bad boy", but positive and upbeat stories along with a rockin' musical setting. A strong hook is key here - absolutely essential. A unique lyric perspective, with a mostly conversational tone, will set your song apart. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by October 7, 2008.TAXI # S081007CO

I haven't listened to your song, but Country Artists pitches are the hardest high caliber listings there are.Its a lonely road littered with the bodies of those who went before you...and as the jokes says, there is also a down side. But, one must try and all you can do is give it your best shot.

Hey Richard...I would put both of these as 'traditional country'. These are probably closer in treatment to an almost Everly Brothers style. While you might be able to get some mileage out of these with tv/film listings (or some other more traditional country listings), I don't think that the way these are presented will get forwards for this listing. These songs aren't bad at all... just not right for this listing IMO. For a listing like this, you really have to hand exactly what they want on a platter with all the trimmings, or they may not bite at all. This means full production for the most part, and a more professional demo sound. While I'm sure there are exceptions to this, I don't think there are many.Hate to rain on the parade!! I really do think these songs can find a home -- you just need the right listing. Good luck!

Hi Richard,I'm afraid I have to agree that these don't fit the contemporary country listing. Trains Leaving in the Morning actually sounds like a folk song to me. Possibly if they were recorded in a contemporary style they might sound more contemporary. Also, for whatever reason, they frown on starting the song with a chorus these days, which you do on "Heartaches".If that's you singing, you have a nice voice.Cameron

richardHere is how it is.I would be your least choice for someone to give you guidance. I struggle!!The guys before me just gave you some great information. They are some of the best here in the forum. Feel fortunate when they comment. Here are a couple of little things I am sure you would want to know."standard procedure" is to:- have only one post up at a time.-always provide the lyrics-always provide a direct link to your songs-comment on other folks tunes or works in progressThese are just a few of the things that have been brought to my attention in the last nine months here at taxi from other forum members. You get it all in one shot:)Sorry if I sound like a pain in the ass, but I thought you would want to know.paul
