Hi All
I posted this in the General Hangout section but guess it belongs here.
What is the difference between a Tropical house/pop instrumental cue and a Future bass instrumental cue?
I don't really hear much difference from the references.
I'm fairly new and haven't submitted anything yet.

Re: Difference in Cue Types???
They are two differnet genres..although there is some crossover
Best thing I find is read Wikipedia...find out where they came from..whoe the influential songs & artists are..listen to some playlists of each style. Maybe on Youtube or Spotify spend a day one and then the other...then hopefully you should be able to start spotting differences between then.
It may also help to write down what you hear and deconstruct the reference tracks by laying out what instruments, sounds, note patterns and structures they use then compare hte similarities and differences.

Tropical pop typically has a "tresillo" rhythmic figure. Google is your friend if you haven't heard of that. Its also got a certain flavor of synths. Stuff that sounds like electronic versions of marimbas etc.
Future bass is similar but could be described more like happy trap with modulated synths.
Go to Apple Music or Spotify and listen to some playlists of each genre and you will get it.

Re: Difference in Cue Types???
Thanks Mark and Andy. Good ideas. I do try to keep tabs on the different genres out there but many haven't been in my past listening habits.
Good the to keep the brain cells firing.
