East West's Play [with Goliath] doesn't even give me the option to use pitch bend.

EDIT; I saw Goliath described as a Swiss army knife type package with a broad palette of orchestral, ethnic, pop brass, guitars, choir etc. A bit of a lot of things but basic. The usability of the samples varies. It would be nice to be able to use pitch bend and modulation on a violin part. It doesn't seem to be available with this software.
I have been wanting to expand my samples and instruments for some time and will probably upgrade my hard drives and get into Kontakt, maybe starting with Komplete Select. There are probably third parties that have the type of sampled instruments, that I mentioned earlier, that can be used with Kontakt's players?
I think I have 2 issues running: 1: Get Kontact for its braoad palette of music production software.
2: Find a sample library that are more user friendly than the Play Engine.
