Do I need Disco.ac

Post by pveniot » Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:46 am

Hi Taxi Forums people.
Hope all is well.

My questions are:
Do I need Disco to deliver songs to Music Supervisors and Music Production librairies ?
The Lite version is 10$/month 500 tracks.

I have around 200 instrumentals that could be candidates for future uses.

I tried Composer catalog, just a database that does not even save/write metadata.

Could it be used as a ''cloud'' to backup my songs?
(I have backups on my local disks!)

I have many signed many deals with Music Production librairies, they never asked for it... Do some do?

Any insights, ideas, advice ?

Many Thanks

All the best to you all!

Pierre

Hi,

I've been using DISCO for a while now and it is absolutely brilliant. Well worth every penny.

I just started using DISCO, as a company I work with prefers it. I love it, and it seems tailor-made for these purposes.

Hi Pierre

If you have delivered tracks to libraries, you know there are different systems in place. Bigger ones have their own upload platforms, smaller ones might ask you for a WeTransfer, or similar. I don't think it would be a good idea for them to force people into a platform they have to pay for. But then, it could still be useful to you personally even if you'll never need it to actually transfer files.

Tom
Hi Tom, many thanks, that was exactly my ''fear''. Like you said, music Production Librairies have their own platform...

I've also been using Disco for more than a year and just upgraded to Discovery suite. That is basically your own library. They seem to have music supervisors also in their network. At least it increases the chances to get in touch with the market.

You can add tags to each song and when you download the song the tags are included. So each song I post on Taxi was previously tagged on Disco. Just saying....

The tool itself is a very good one imho. I have about 1K tracks in there plus a few movies. And I will have it grow with the rest of my catalogue.

So for me it is very good. But if one NEEDS it, surely depends on what the targets are.

Hope that helps a bit.

Without the intention of any self-promo, here is a link to my first attempt to publish my catalog. Just for your info.
