Do you book your hotel to check out Sunday or Monday??

Hey all! I am about to book my hotel for the Road Rally. Just curious what you all recommend/ what you guys do! Do you guys check out and fly home Sunday night, or Monday morning? I don't want to miss anything on Sunday, but also don't want to pay for an extra night if it's not necessary.. thanks!!

If you don't want to miss any 'closing' ceremonies/Grand Ballroom 'wrap-up' - it might be a good idea to contact TAXI and see if/when they have set the last official gathering event; but that might not be ready for several more months - the schedule, that is.

I'm thinking MOST travelers do the Sunday noon check out... and fly out later in the day.
SO - if you can manage to book a late-in-the-day flight on Sunday, you'll probably NOT miss anything.
Hope that helps.

I got antsy so I just booked it to check out Monday! haha.

I saw something in my confirmation that says they only guarantee your reservation if you put money down up front, but I never saw that option. If you don't put money down upfront, and they get a high volume of guests, they may give away your room.. has this been a problem for anyone?? Trying to take every precaution possible!

HA! - that's kinda funny, cause after reading my own reply, I think I've decided NOT to stay/spend the money for Sunday night.
Didn't you have to give a credit card number to secure your reservation? And they gave you a confirmation number, right?

I've been to the previous 2 RRs, and never got charged anything until I checked out; AND - there was never any 'threat' that the confirmation number they gave me could possibly be revoked; I just don't think it works that way.

Again - I hope that helps.
Your mileage may vary. Just kidding. :? :)

Well that is indeed refreshing to hear! This is what I was referring to though - this is copied from my confirmation email:

Guarantee Rules
For reservations guaranteed with a form of payment at time of booking, rooms are held until hotel check-out time the day following arrival. For reservations not guaranteed with a form of payment at time of booking, rooms are held until set cancellation time per the rules of the reservation. In the event more guests arrive than can be accommodated due to hotel overbooking or an unforeseen circumstance, and hotel is unable to hold rooms consistent with this room hold policy, hotel will attempt to accommodate guests, at its expense, at a comparable hotel in the area for the oversold night(s), and will pay for transportation to that hotel.

Quoting Colombo: "...on more thing..."
Having heard some of the hotel staff tell me that the TAXI RR is one of their biggest conventions of the year - and that the employees LIKE to work it -
because the Music Bizz people, in general & as hotel clients, are respectful and courteous. It's particularly cool knowing that they look forward to "US" coming for those days in November every year. At least, that's the impression I got from the exchanges, encounters, and conversations I've had with folks that work at the Westin LAX.

THAT being the case - I seriously doubt that they would boot any Taxi Peeps from their reservations.
Still: your mileage MAY vary. :? :o :)

I think "guaranteed with a form of payment" includes the credit card you needed when booking, as Peter mentioned.

I have attended the last three Road Rallies and the only trouble I have run into was arriving Thursday afternoon last year with a throng of TAXI members and finding that our rooms weren't cleaned yet, so we had to wait a few hours to actually check in.

The rally is officially over around 6-7pm on Sunday if I recall.

Many of us like staying Sunday and flying home on Monday. Sunday night dinner is quieter and more peaceful and also a good time to network with people without as much hustle and bustle.

If you have a relatively short flight home, you COULD fly home Sunday night. You would have to check out of your room by checkout time on Sunday (I think 11 or 12) and leave your bags with hotel valet. If your traveling far, unless you want to take a red eye, you are probably better off staying over till Monday.
